Hello! I'm Rebecca McAuley, a qualified sleep consultant and mother from Co. Meath, Ireland. I help families navigate the challenges of infant and toddler sleep with evidence-based guidance and compassionate support. My approach to sleep support is gentle, responsive, and connection-focused. I do not use 'cry it out' or similar methods. Instead, I guide families through nurturing, step-by-step strategies that respect their baby's needs for comfort and security while helping parents feel confident and supported. My goal is to make sleep improvement a positive, bonding experience for both baby and parent.
Before I became a Sleep Consultant
I hold a Bachelors Degree in General Nursing and a Masters Degree in Diagnostics and Precision Medicine, both from Dublin City University. I also have a QQI Level 6 Train the Trainer qualification. My professional background spans both acute healthcare and the pharmaceutical sector, including roles in drug safety regulatory reporting, and clinical trial teams, where I supported clinical oversight in oncology treatments. I also have experience as a freelance healthcare tutor, supporting students in their studies.
Why I became a Sleep Consultant
My journey into sleep consultancy began personally, through the challenges I experienced with my own son. Looking back, I realise that much of our difficulty came from my own lack of experience and familiarity with the best ways to support his sleep. I experienced first-hand how overwhelming and exhausting those early months can be. Combining my professional experience in highly regulated, evidence-based industries with my personal insights as a parent, I am passionate about helping families achieve restful nights and positive routines.
My Sleep Consultant Journey
I completed the Settled Petals Diploma in Family-Centred Sleep, a FEDANT (Federation of Antenatal and Parenting Trainers) accredited course. FEDANT is a professional body that sets high standards for training in parenting and family support, ensuring courses are evidence-based, ethical, and adhere to best practice guidelines.
Accreditation is particularly important in the field of sleep consultancy because it is currently unregulated. This means there is no mandatory standard for training or qualifications, and parents need assurance that the advice they receive is safe, credible, and informed by research. Choosing a FEDANT-accredited course gave me confidence that my training was high-quality, professional, and grounded in evidence, which aligns with my background in regulated, evidence-based industries.
I am also publicly listed on the FEDANT register, and I am a member of the International Association of Sleep Consultants, demonstrating my commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to industry standards.
